Professor Chua Tat Seng is well known for his work in multimedia information retrieval and social media analytics. He is a pioneer of neural and explainable recommendation. He has also done innovative early research on causal reasoning framework towards robust Artificial Intelligence.
Tat Seng was honoured with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) SIGMM Technical Achievement Award in 2015, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to multimedia computing, communications and applications. He has also won multiple best paper awards and is well cited, with more than 45,000 citations and a H-index of one hundred.
Tat Seng led a highly successful collaboration with Tsinghua University as the codirector of the NExT Research Centre on Extreme Search. He is also the co-director of Sea-NExT Lab, as well as the co-founder of technology start-up companies – ViSenze and 6Estates.
